Denver RB Travis Henry (ribs) did not take part in Wednesday’s practice session. He's still "a little sore right now,” according to Coach Shanahan.
---
Denver TE Tony Scheffler (leg) took a full practice Wednesday. He should be okay to play this weekend barring a setback.
---
Bills backup WR Sam Aiken (hamstring) took full practice Wednesday.
---
Bills backup TE Ryan Neufeld (quadricep) was limited at practice Wednesday.
---
At QB, for the Bills, rookie Trent Edwards will start. As far as rookie QBs go, we have been impressed with Edwards. He's not a short-term fantasy solution, but keeper league managers should consider Edwards the real deal (relative to other rookie QBs). The Bills hope Edwards is the long-term solution and he just might be.
---
Panthers QB David Carr (back) took reps Wednesday. If he continues to practice he'll start this weekend in North Carolina against Indy.
---
Panthers RB DeShaun Foster (toe) did not practice Wednesday. He starts the week somewhere between questionable and probable. If he can't go this weekend, DeAngelo Williams will be very active especially when you consider Panthers RB Nick Goings (concussion) is also very iffy for Week #8. Also, don’t be surprised if the Panthers treat Foster as a game time call.
---
Bengals RB Rudi Johnson (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday. Consider him a game time call. Even if he plays this weekend, don’t count on much as the Steelers are in town and we believe Kenny Watson will get most of the carries regardless of Rudi's hamstring condition.
---
The Browns starting RB Jamal Lewis (foot) was limited at practice Wednesday. The Browns are coming off a bye so we expect Lewis should be able to do more soon if his foot is anywhere near 100%. If not, look out for
Jerome Harrison, word is he may have passed Jason Wright as the main backup to Lewis. Still, before we put the cart in front of the horse here, keep in mind the Browns coaching staff seems optimistic that Lewis will play against St. Louis this weekend.
---
Browns WR Joe Jurevicius (knee) took practice Wednesday. Over the last two weeks, Jurevicius was only averaging 22.5 Yds/game.
---
Texans QB Matt Schaub (hip) was limited at practice Wednesday. When asked if it looks like he can play, the QB said, “It’s gotten better each day here. I wake up in the morning and test it out and get it loose, so I feel pretty good. It’s still a day-to-day thing. We’ll go out and I tried to throw a little bit yesterday and see, move around a little bit, and I’ll do the same today, try and do as much as I can without having negative consequences. So we’ll see how it feels today.”
---
Texans RB Ahman Green (knee) was limited at practice Wednesday but should be okay for this weekend.
---
Texans WR Andre Johnson (knee) only did some light work today and is still not ready to return. Johnson only managed to run a couple of routes today. When asked about ESPN's report that he’s targeted to play for Oakland, Johnson said, “I heard that, too, but I don’t know where they get it from. Like I said, my knee’s feeling better. It’s just taking it day by day. I talked to the doctor, I think that was Sunday after the game, he said we could just push it harder and harder and just see how the knee reacts to it since I haven’t been out on the field in a while. So (I) went out and pushed it pretty hard today, and I’m pretty sure we’ll do the same thing tomorrow and the next day and the next day, and we’ll see how it goes.”
---
Texans K Kris Brown (left foot) was rested Wednesday. This is becoming a normal practice for Brown. Last week he rested on Thursday, took a full practice Friday and played on Sunday.
---
The Colts allowed WR Marvin Harrison (team decision) to rest Wednesday. Consider this the team taking a precaution.
---
Jaguars QB David Garrard (high ankle) did not practice Wednesday and was ruled out for the week. Garrard could be out for up to a month.
---
With David Garrard out, the Jags will look to Quinn Gray to start Sunday against the Buccaneers.
---
Also of note, the Jags gave workouts to free agent QBs Todd
Bouman, Doug Johnson and Drew Henson. The team even looked at trying to get
Drew Bledsoe to un-retire, but that is not going to happen.
---
Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew (knee) did not practice Wednesday. Still Jones-Drew's knee is thought to be a minor knee sprain. Coach Del Rio called Jones-Drew’s status “questionable” for Sunday. The team hoped to get him back by the end of the week and then he’ll play on Sunday, Del Rio said.
---
Jaguars TE George Wrighster (head) was limited at practice Wednesday.
---
Dolphins TE David Martin (groin) did not practice Wednesday. But he played last week.
---
Vikings QB Tarvaris Jackson (right hand) was limited at practice Wednesday. Jackson has a broken finger on his throwing hand so don't count on much here.
---
Vikings RB Chester Taylor (groin) was limited at practice Wednesday. The team is resting him.
---
Patriots TE Benjamin Watson (ankle) did not practice Wednesday.
---
Giants RB Derrick Ward (ankle) did not practice Wednesday and remains iffy for Week #8.
---
As it has been each week, Giants WR Plaxico Burress (ankle) did not practice Wednesday.
---
Jets QB Chad Pennington (ankle) was limited at practice Wednesday but will start this weekend against Buffalo.
---
As is normal, the Jets gave WR Laveranues Coles (calf) some time off Wednesday.
---
Jets TE Chris Baker (back) did some limited work Wednesday.
---
Raiders QB Josh McCown (toe) took practice Wednesday. He has a chance to start this weekend. More to follow.
---
Raiders WR Jerry Porter (shoulder) took reps Wednesday.
---
Eagles rookie TE Brent Celek (ankle) took reps Wednesday.
---
Eagles TE L.J. Smith (hernia) participated in Wednesday's practice but he's still iffy right now for this weekend.
---
The Steelers WR Hines Ward (knee) did not practice Wednesday but he should do more later in the week.
---
Steelers TE Heath Miller (chin) was limited at practice Wednesday. He actually took a shot to the face today in practice that cut his chin and nose. It's no big deal, though as we think he should be able to play this weekend.
---
49ers QB Alex Smith (right shoulder) took reps Wednesday. If he does more this week, he should return to the starting lineup this weekend.
---
49ers RB Frank Gore (ankle) did not practice Wednesday. Last Sunday, it was Gore wondering whether his teammates trust the play calling of first-year offensive coordinator Jim Hostler. "Norv Turner, he's been doing it for a while," said Gore. The team expects Gore to play this weekend. As to what his quote will do for his carries? Time will tell.
---
49ers WR Darrell Jackson (quadricep) did not practice Wednesday.
---
Rams QB Marc Bulger (ribs) took practice Wednesday.
---
Rams RB Steven Jackson (groin) took reps Wednesday and all signs are pointing for him to start. Still, this needs to be watched closely and we will.
---
Rams WR Drew Bennett (hamstring) took reps Wednesday.
---
Rams WR Dante Hall (ankle) did not practice Wednesday. He's not someone to count on.
---
As is normal, Rams WR Torry Holt (knee) was limited at practice Wednesday. The team will go easy on him all season at practice.
---
Titans QB Vince Young (quadricep) took practice Wednesday and word is he looked fine.
---
Titans RB Chris Brown (ankle) did not practice Wednesday. Don't count on Brown this weekend.
---
Titans WR Brandon Jones (knee) did not practice Wednesday and most likely will not play this weekend.
---
Bucs WR Joey Galloway (team decision) was limited at practice Wednesday. The team will go easy on him all season at practice.
---
Bucs TE Alex Smith (ankle) did not practice Wednesday. Look for other options.
